Knowledge and attitude toward cesarean section on request among women in Makkah Province, Saudi Arabia: a cross sectional study

Abstract
Objective: This study aimed to assess knowledge, attitudes, and factors influencing preference for cesarean section (CS) on request among women of reproductive age in Makkah Province, Saudi Arabia.
Methods: This cross-sectional study administered an online survey among 254 women aged ≥18 years using a structured, validated questionnaire.
Results: Most participants preferred vaginal delivery (81.1%). Fear of labor pain was the most common reason for preferring CS. Knowledge gaps regarding CS complications were identified.
Conclusion: Despite a preference for vaginal delivery, misconceptions and limited awareness regarding CS risks persisted. Therefore, targeted education is required.
