Abstract
This study aimed to find out how Invisalign and Clear Aligner affected oral health. This systematic review was constructed in compliance with PRISMA guidelines. Using three electronic databases including PubMed, PLOS ONE, and Google Scholar, four authors independently searched the literature for every peer-reviewed research publication published between the years 2016 and 2024. For this study, data from English-language cohort studies and randomized controlled trials were needed, including data on Invisalign, transparent aligners, orthodontic aligners, fixed appliances (FAs), and oral health. Eight articles were ultimately included in this review out of the 134 articles that were collected overall. Three of the eight included studies examined the effectiveness of Invisalign and FAs, while six examined the impact of Invisalign or clear aligner treatment on dental health. Fixed labial appliances were employed as a comparison in four of the studies that examined the impact on oral health. Plaque accumulation was higher in the group with permanent appliances, and the Invisalign system had no positive impacts on oral flora. Adult patients who received orthodontic treatments using aligners had worse treatment results than those who received FAs. In the short term, aligner orthodontic therapy was associated with worse oral hygiene; however, the evidence for this connection was not particularly strong.

Key words: Oral health, Invisalign, appliance treatment, impact, systemic review
