Abstract
Objective: This study aimed to assess the quality of life (QoL) among diabetic patients in Saudi Arabia using a validated Arabic Diabetes Quality of Life (DQoL) questionnaire.
Methods: A cross-sectional survey was conducted in March 2024 using convenience sampling across Saudi Arabia. Diabetic participants completed an online survey via social media and Google Forms. The DQoL questionnaire included demographic information and 29 questions across satisfaction, impact, and worry domains.
Results: The study included 366 participants, predominantly male (67.8%) and aged 25-34 years (27.3%). Overall, 87.2% reported high QoL. High satisfaction, impact, and worry ratings were reported by 65.8%, 64.8%, and 67.8% of participants, respectively. Significant factors influencing QoL included gender, education level, social status, and income (p-value < 0.05), with better QoL associated with males, higher education, married status, and higher income.
Conclusion: Diabetic patients in Saudi Arabia generally reported high QoL, influenced by sociodemographic factors. Targeted interventions are needed to improve QoL in specific subgroups, such as females and those with lower education or income levels. Further research should explore the underlying factors affecting QoL in diabetic patients.
