Systemic inflammatory response syndrome after major abdominal surgery

ABSTRACT
Background: Systemic inflammatory response syndrome is a clinical response to the nonspecific insult that is of either non-infectious or infectious origin. The pathogenesis of systemic inflammatory response starts with induction of molecules that are responsible for the activation of receptor recognition and damage molecules for pathogens. Methodology: Online research was used to search for articles involved in this review using scientific websites and several keywords like SIRS, sepsis, Surgery, Epidemiology. Results: This review included five articles which were published between the years 2002-2017. Conclusion: There is a natural progression between septic syndromes, so early assessment of SIRS can be useful to avoid severe outcomes.
