Health related Quality of life following pelvic ring fractures: A cross-sectional study in Aseer Central Hospital.

Abstract
Introduction: Pelvic ring injuries are serious injuries, often associated with substantial morbidity and mortality rates
Aim of work is to estimate the health-related quality of life after pelvic ring fractures in patients in Saudi Arabia.
Methods: A cross-sectional study carried out in Aseer Central Hospital on 100 Patients with all types of pelvic ring fractures. The Demographics, fracture type, injury mechanism, treatment, and complications will be recorded. The used questionnaire was LiSat-11 consisting of 11 questions for evaluation of satisfaction with different aspects of life.
Results: One hundred patients with pelvic ring fractures participated in the present study. The majority of them were males, and the mean age was 30± 6.5. 38% of the patients had additional injuries in different regions in the body. Most of the patients (60%) carried out operations. More than one-quarter of patients (28%) had complications included neurological complications (14%), Osteosynthesis failure (11%), and infection (3%). 40% of the patients were unsatisfied with life as a whole. patients reported unsatisfaction for both physical health (72%) and Psychological domains (66%) of the quality of life. The sexual life was affected in 39% of the included patients. Additionally, family life was unsatisfied with 62% of patients. However, the financial situation of the patients was satisfied in 72% of the patients.
Conclusion: Patients with pelvic ring fractures were unsatisfied with life as a whole with a lower quality of life for both physical and psychological domains. The family and sexual life were adversely affected by the injury.
