Abstract
Background: The incidence of allergic diseases has been increasing over the last few decades. These diseases are associated with direct, indirect, and social costs. Diagnosis of allergen sensitization patterns in patients with allergic disease is vital. This study aims to identify the prevalence, types, triggers, and associated factors of allergic disorders among adults in Aljouf region, Saudi Arabia.
Methodology: A cross-sectional observational study was conducted using an anonymous online questionnaire administered through social media among 500 Saudi adults. Data were analyzed using the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences program, version 24.
Results: The overall prevalence of diagnosed allergic disorders among the participants was 41.2%. Skin allergy (23.2%) and allergic rhinitis (20.4%) were the most prevalent types of allergies. The most frequently reported allergenic triggers were the house dust (58.3%), temperature changes (41.3%), and perfumes (31.1%). Family history of allergies, chronic diseases, and childhood history of allergies were strongly associated with the occurrence of allergy disorders.
Conclusions: The study showed a high prevalence of allergy disorders among adults in Aljouf region, Saudi Arabia. The study recommends raising population awareness about allergy disorders, its triggering factors and prevention strategies.

Key words: Allergy, allergens, Saudi Adults, allergic disorders
