Abstract
Objective: This study aimed to assess the awareness level of borderline personality disorder (BPD) among the population of Taif, Saudi Arabia.
Methods: A cross-sectional design was used for this study, and an online self-administered questionnaire was distributed through an online platform across the targeted population. The inclusion criteria for this study involved participants aged 18 years or above, and those who live in Taif, Saudi Arabia.
Results: A total of 446 adults were included in this study, most of them were females (77.8%), and participants were predominantly aged 18-24 years (28.3%). In terms of education, 68.4% held a bachelor’s degree. Most of the participants were aware of BPD (52.0%). However, the majority of the participants had very little and weak knowledge about BPD with 37.0% and 29.8%, respectively. Age and education level were significantly associated with BPD awareness and can be used as a predictor to predict the level of awareness across the population.
Conclusion: The BPD awareness level was moderate among the population of Taif, Saudi Arabia, and the awareness tends to be higher among younger age groups in addition to individuals with higher education levels.

Key words: Borderline personality disorder, awareness, psychological, Taif, Saudi Arabia
