Dental management of children with cerebral palsy: a review article

Abstract
General health is inextricably linked to oral health. Therefore, people with special health-care needs may be more susceptible to oral disorders over their lifetimes. This review aimed to explore the dental management of children with cerebral palsy (CP). This review was performed through an electronic literature search for relevant studies identified using keywords on the MEDLINE database from 2015 to 2022, including Dental, Management, Children, and CP. Similar keywords were used to search and identify relevant articles on Google Scholar. The articles were chosen based on definite inclusion criteria. CP affects 2 to 2.5 out of every 1,000 live babies. Children with CP may be more prone to oral diseases. Children with CP need dental care that needs adaption to our daily activities. The pediatric healthcare provider’s responsibility includes assisting families in managing continuing health issues that may develop. Caregivers for patients with special needs are an integral part of the oral health team and must become knowledgeable and proficient in oral care at home as well as in dental practice.
