Quality assessment of diabetic care in Armed Force Hospital Southern region

Abstract
Objective: This study aimed to assess the current status of care provided by the Diabetes Center at Armed Forces Hospital (AFH).
Methods: This study was cross-sectional and conducted at the AFH in the Southern region during the period from January to June 2023. The study was conducted using the patient’s data sheet and a questionnaire to investigate the demographics and clinical characteristics of patients as well as the quality of care provided to the patients.
Results: This study included 180 diabetic patients; 52.2% were males, 61.1% had uncontrolled blood sugar, 37.8% were hypertensive, and 45% were obese. Around 60.6% reported receiving high-quality care. The quality of care was significantly affected by secondary education (p = 0.037), university education (p = 0.006), monthly income of more than 10,000 SR (p = 0.022), glycemic control (p = 0.039), and body mass index (p = 0.0001).
Conclusion: A good level of quality care was provided to the diabetic patients; however, it requires more improvement.
